About Alembic Sharkoferrol Pet Syrup

A pet who seems tired, eats poorly or is recovering from illness, ticks or worms may need extra support to rebuild red blood cells. Your vet may suggest an iron tonic while the cause is treated.

Sharkoferrol Pet is an iron and vitamin tonic for dogs and cats from Alembic. It provides ferric ammonium citrate (an iron source) with calcium gluconate, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, biotin and copper.

It is listed for dogs and cats of all ages. It supports haemoglobin and red blood cell production in nutritional anaemia, as well as appetite, energy and growth.

The Sharkoferrol Range

This is the pet version, for dogs and cats. Sharkoferrol Vet is a separate product made for cattle and other livestock. Do not swap one for the other.

How Much to Give

  • Daily amount. The listed amount for dogs and cats is 5 to 10g a day. Your vet will tell you the right amount for your pet's size.
  • Measuring. Use the measure supplied with the pack, not a kitchen spoon.

How to Use

  • With food. Mix the daily amount into food, or give it by mouth with a dosing syringe.
  • How long. Give it for as long as your vet advises, usually while your pet's blood count recovers.
  • Storage. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct light, with the lid tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.

Safety and Precautions

  • Find the cause. Pale gums and weakness can come from tick fever, worms, fleas or blood loss. These need your vet, not just a tonic.
  • Do not overdose. Too much iron is harmful. Do not go above the listed amount unless your vet directs it.
