About Metroplope Bolus

Bacterial infections of the skin, ears, gut, urinary tract or chest can make a animal feel unwell, and they need the right antibiotic to clear.

Metroplope Bolus is a bolus from Unim that contains metronidazole. Metronidazole is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medicine.

How It Works

• Metronidazole. It damages the DNA of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, so they cannot survive.

How to Use

• Dose. Give Metroplope Bolus exactly as your vet prescribes. The dose depends on your animal's weight, age and condition.
• Giving a bolus. Use a bolus gun or place it far back on the tongue, then hold the head up until the animal swallows.
• Missed dose. Give it as soon as you remember, unless the next dose is nearly due. Never give two doses together.
• Finish the course. Keep giving it for as long as your vet says, even if your pet seems better, so the infection does not come back.
• Storage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, unless the pack gives other storage directions. Keep out of reach of children.

Safety and Precautions

• It has a very bitter taste and can cause drooling or loss of appetite.
• Stop and call your vet straight away if your pet becomes wobbly, has a head tilt, unusual eye movements or fits.
• Not for pregnant animals unless your vet says so.
• Stop and call your vet if your pet has vomiting, diarrhoea, a rash or swelling of the face.
• Follow the milk and meat withdrawal period printed on the pack before milk or meat from treated animals is used for food.
• Tell your vet about any other medicines your animal takes, and if your animal is pregnant, nursing or has liver or kidney problems.
